Building Outphasing

Proximus, as many other European operators, is in the process of adapting and upgrading its telecommunications infrastructure.

These adaptations render a number of local exchanges (LEX) obsolete. The buildings accommodating these local exchanges are susceptible of being sold, and the MDF’s will be phased-out. Consequently, certain Proximus LEX-buildings will cease to be operational in the future. This will impact all services depending on those local exchanges for their delivery.

A list of 65 buildings was initially identified for closure between 2012 and 2020, and communicated to the market. In this initial plan, some large buildings were excluded, due to their technical complexity. The building outphasing plan has now evolved to a lower number of buildings, but puts more focus on the large buildings.

Out of this updated list, by mid 2014 notifications have already been sent - pursuant the existing obligations regarding MDF and building outphasing - for the out-phasing of 22 buildings scheduled between 2012 and 2020.

We invite you to take the present information into account in your commercial and investment decisions.
